Big things are happening. Very big things. Don’t miss out.\nMission: Totes Possible\nTattify started as a simple idea. We wanted to create beautiful, original temporary tattoos that get people excited. Because reasons. All of those reasons still exist. That’s why we keep working on making temporary tattoos as cool as they can be.\nMany companies and brands offering temporary tattoos provide you with limited selection, dated styles, and products that feel less grown up than you’d like during your first (or second or third) festival.\nWe like festivals, too. You’ll often find us putting in double triple overtime to make sure everything keeps on humming for you, our customers, while we’re partying our faces off at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Burning Man. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, we just released a collection that’ll make your experiences even more memorable in 2015.\nWhat is it?\nIf you attended an outdoor, multiday concert sometime in the past 2 years, you probably noticed people wearing what looked like jewelry pasted directly on their skin. Metallic temporary tattoos are often indistinguishable from real jewelry, so don’t beat yourself up too much if you didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until recently.\nIn the beginning, just a couple short years ago, creative revelers made DIY metallic jewelry tattoos out of liquid eyeliner. But more and more companies, including Tattify, now offer off-the-shelf jewelry tattoos. Just like with other temporary tattoos, you’ll search high and low for products design-y enough to display on your skin.\nWe could have cobbled together a few boring designs in a thoroughly obvious attempt to milk the trend for all it’s worth. That would have taken the better half of an afternoon. But that’s not Tattify’s style. We put more than a little thought into this project because we want the products we offer to be the bestest, coolest, raddest, sweetest, most joyous little sheets of skin art in the whole wide world.\nOur top priority is making your days, nights, and weekends out and away more fun, exciting, and memorable.\nOur process\nWe started by looking at the products sporting a lustrous metallic finish – other companies sold. What we found was kinda heartbreaking, and that’s when we knew we could do print jewelry (that’s what we’re calling it now) better than everyone else.\nWe found companies abusing the snot out of the same boring motifs rendered over and over again in silver and gold. Silver and gold are neato, but we had questions of our own to answer. What if gold was baby blue but with the same shiny finish as gold? What would that look like? Would it look cooler than gold? We didn’t know because it didn’t exist, so we started by mixing a huge array of colors with metallic foil to create our first test designs. We liked what we saw.\nColor is a huge part of design, but it’s not the whole story. We also wanted our products to look like real jewelry. Why bother if they didn’t look like the real thing right? We realized we had to think more like jewelry designers to do this project justice. Our products had to pop just as much as real jewelry. Just like with tattoo design, jewelry design is informed and influenced by culture as well as historical trends and styles. We started by doing our homework. Some things never change amirite?\nDoing the thing\nWe wanted to create a variety of sets appealing to as many styles, moods, and occasions as possible. We thought about the people behind those styles, moods, and occasions, too. In other words we spent a bunch of time thinking about you and your friends (not in a creepy way like that boy from freshman year but sweetly – like you hope your first post-college fling will be).\nWe were born on the Internet (not literally OK yes literally), so that’s where we turned first for inspiration.\nWe scoured the web for images of different styles and types of jewelry. Anything and everything was game. At first we saved the images in one big folder. But it took all of a few hours before that folder ballooned to the size of a Lumpy-Space-Princess-shaped parade float. There was no way we could do everything in the folder. Difficult decisions were made, but we think our latest collection includes something for just about everyone. Our collections appeal to just about everyone, but not just anyone. Call us krazy but we think there’s a difference!\nThe sets\nAfter asking and answering those hard questions, our big folder turned into a bunch of much smaller, much better organized folders with names like “geometric,” “organic,” “retro-90s,” “jewels,” “charms,” and “kitchen sink.”\nEvery folder represented an idea for a set. But every folder contained way, way too much inspiration to cram into just one set. We designed the sets keeping different types of jewelry like rings, necklaces, bracelets, and hand or foot chains in mind. These primary components varied for every set. Choosing and eliminating design elements formed the backbone of the layout process necessary for creating print jewelry from vectorized artwork. That’s a mouthful isn’t it?!\nThe final selection process affected our choices for inks, metallic foils, and even the printer we used. Temporary tattoos might seem simple on the surface, but we assure you they aren’t when you’re trying to make hundreds of designs gel into sets and collections that make sense!\nWe ended up with 18 sets of awesome metallic temporary tattoos that actually look like real jewelry. Mission accomplished, right? No way! Every set has a story, of course! And because we like stories, we’re telling them right here, right now.\nWithout further ado…\n1.
